And then fire consumed me and made walls around me. I was like, “Where am I? I’m in hell.” And I kept begging God for a little bit of oxygen, a little bit of water in my mouth, and there wasn’t. So there was a thought that came to my mind: “Gisely, you have one chance. Who will you call, which god will you call?” And I knew I had to make the right choice. So I looked up, and I said, “Jesus, if You’re real, have mercy on my soul. I don’t want to burn in hell forever.” Right away this hand comes down from Heaven and grabbed me from that fire, and He came and brought me back to my body again. Brazilian singer Gisely Fish shares how, at 13, she died from a drug overdose, was dragged into hell, and rescued by Lord Jesus (vegetarian).
Gisely grew up in Brazil as an unwanted child. Her father’s rage and violence filled their home, and she grew up feeling hated, rejected, and like an easy target for the devil. After her parents’ divorce, she began living on the streets, drinking and using drugs from age 11. At 13, on a scorching afternoon, she and her friends mixed strong alcohol into soda at a soccer field near a bar. After drinking, she suddenly felt burning all over and could no longer breathe. In that moment, her life on Earth ended— and her descent began. I looked down and I was like, “That’s me. Oh my God, what happened to me?” And I was like, “Oh no, I died drunk and a drug addict. So where will be my eternity?” And right away like this portal formed in front of me. Gisely’s spirit entered the portal and found herself in a lake of fire. The pain was excruciating.
And then fire consumed me and made walls around me. The fire there is like a hundred times worse than being burned here, and my body there is made to withstand that fire, so I’m like burning constantly. And I’m begging God, or whatever is there because at the time, I didn’t really believe in God. And I was like, “Oh my God, where am I? I’m in hell.” And I kept begging God for a little bit of oxygen, a little bit of water in my mouth, and there wasn’t. I looked back, and I see like millions of souls and people screaming, and the only time I could make a noise because of the low oxygen would be like to scream, and then I would come back and keep trying to breathe again. I needed that oxygen, and there was no way I would have that where I was.
Gisely realized she had one last chance to ask for help from a god or deity. She needed someone powerful, merciful, and compassionate— and there was only One she knew of Who could save her. I looked up to the sky because I could see the sky, and I said, “Jesus, if You’re real, have mercy on my soul. I don’t want to live here forever. Give me a chance to do things right. I don’t want to burn in hell forever.” Right away this hand comes down from Heaven, and I only saw His arm, His hand, and a white sleeve, and it came down, and it was shiny, it was so beautiful, like Heavenly shiny. And it came down with that hand and grabbed me from that fire, and I could lay on His hand, it was so big, and I hugged His arm and I held on it tight, and He came and brought me back to my body again.
The experience in hell convinced Gisely that Lord Jesus is real, but she was still entangled in street life. Later, her family moved to the United States, and years of depression and trauma caught up with her. One day she decided to end her life in the bathroom— until God intervened again. And God stopped me one time. I heard His voice really loud and clear, and I was in the bathroom trying to take my life. And then that voice screamed, “Gisely, don’t do it!” And it was like right there, I was like… “I gave you a chance. You give Me a chance.” So He gave me a chance in hell, I asked Him for a chance. “Give Me a chance, don’t do this.” And so, He’s like, “Go to church today.”
Gisely listened, saving her life and beginning a new chapter centered on praising and worshipping God. One day, Gisely asked creation itself to show her how it praises God. I went and sat under the tree. I started looking, like, “God put this tree in here for me.” I hugged and I was like kind of caressing it. And I was like, “Show me how you praise the Lord. I want to see it. Because the Bible says you do. Can you show it to me?” And the tree starts moving almost like there’s a windstorm going through, and it would shake its leaves. It’s almost like it was clapping its hands, it was like so hard and then stopped. And I could like feel a lot of wind coming from the clapping, from the moving of the tree like so hard.
Later, Gisely surrendered even more of her life, begging God to take away her sadness and use her as an instrument. Though she had never been a singer, something supernatural happened. I started crying, and I was like, “God, take all the sadness away. Take everything that doesn’t belong here, all that the devil had set in my mind, in my heart. Renew me. Here I am. Use me. I want to do Your Will. Enough; it’s either now or never.” Like, “I want to do Your Will. Give me a talent. Give me something that I can do.” And I did not sing, I was not a singer. And I remember when I did that, the next day I started writing songs nonstop in English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish. I had a dream, and He appeared to me and He said, “Gisely, sing, sing. I need you to sing. Praise Me. I want you to praise Me, I want you to make songs.”
Today Gisely writes and sings worship songs in multiple languages, spending time with God in the early hours and living out the second chance she was given in the lake of fire. Her message centers on forgiveness and the reality of eternity.
I had to learn to forgive and understand that no one deserves to be in that hell that I saw. And that’s one of the things I have a deep feeling to share the hell experience, because no one deserves— God did not make hell for humans. And we have here on Earth an opportunity to get closer to Him, to have a relationship with Him. And that’s my life now. I’m going to worship Him and praise Him as much as I can because I can breathe now, I can have that, and I know He is the oxygen I breathe. He is my all, He is everything I need, and He deserves all my praise and my singing, and I want to just do His Will. (Heaven Encounters with Randy Kay)
Devotional quote of the day: “Let the whole Earth sing to the LORD and praise His Name. Each day, proclaim the good news that He saves. Publish His glorious deeds among the nations.
