According to veterinary experts, dog-people can safely eat certain fruits as occasional treats, provided they are plain, seedless, cut into small pieces, and free of added salt, oil, butter, or flavorings. Fruit in small amounts can offer fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and hydration. According to PDSA [People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals] UK Vet Nurse Shauna Walsh, here are four surprising fruits that are safe for dog-individuals when prepared correctly: • Cherries — The flesh is safe in moderation, but pits, stems, and leaves must be removed because they contain cyanide and pose choking risks. • Peaches — Provide vitamins A and C, fiber, and antioxidants. Only offer small chunks with the pit fully removed, as peach pits are choking hazards and contain amygdalin, which breaks down into cyanide. • Strawberries — Contain potassium, manganese, and vitamin C. Their malic acid can help remove surface stains on teeth, but they should be fed sparingly and not used as a dental care replacement. • Watermelon — High in water (92%), fiber, and vitamins A, B6, and C. A refreshing, hydrating treat when seeds and rind are removed. For summer enrichment, fruit can be mashed onto a licky mat or “made into frozen treats by adding fruit to water and then freezing it,” though caregivers should avoid oversized frozen blocks that could lead to excessive water intake. Caregivers unsure about specific fruits should consult their veterinarian (Country Living)

Experts suggest integrating trained prayer volunteers into standard outpatient clinics as a highly effective, low-cost medical complement (Fox News)

In this multipart series of Dr. Deborah King’s near-death experience, American author Deborah shares how she went into full cardiac arrest and encountered a vast web of Divine Light, received a life review, reunited with a former intensive care unit patient she had helped save, and returned after her late father told her she needed to go back.
Deborah had spent her career in service to others — from the intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital to hospice and home care, and eventually into clinical psychology and behavioral medicine. Six months before her near-death experience, her father passed away, leaving her heartbroken. At the same time, Deborah was exhausted from years of caring for others while not taking enough care of herself. In December 2008, following a long drive to visit his grave, she came home, sat down with her husband Bob, and within minutes, slumped over in full cardiac arrest. Her husband performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation — something she herself had taught him — before she was transported to the hospital. She suffered several additional cardiac arrests during transport to the hospital.
The first thing I remember is being in what I would say is a black void. Now, I say void, not because it felt empty, which may sound a little bit unusual, but because it was — I couldn’t really see boundaries. I couldn’t see walls, or a top, or a bottom. I just was there. But there was something familiar about that, and I pretty soon said to myself, “Well, you know what, I think I’m dead.” And I guess my nursing brain kicked in, and I thought, “Well, let me do a quick assessment.” So, I felt for my body. I literally felt for my head, my arms, my legs, and I pretty quickly deduced that — I thought, “OK, well, you’re out of your body, but the really wild thing is that you’re still here. You’re still alive.” And this did not frighten me at all. I was fascinated. I remember thinking, “Well, how can I be me and have this…” I’m total awareness. That’s what it felt like, just total awareness and just total consciousness, out of my body. How is this possible?
I didn’t even know the questions to ask, except to kind of wait and see what happened. And I started feeling myself move. Now, when I say that, of course, I didn’t have a body. So, I felt my consciousness being propelled. And I saw what looked like a sunrise. That’s the best way I can describe it: like a little glimmer of Light in this dark, kind of velvety blackness, which kind of felt soothing. Like it kind of felt like it was holding me up. Just like it was propelling me, holding me, and I wasn’t frightened by it. But then I saw what looked like a horizon. And there was a tiny amount of Light that started growing. And I willed myself to move towards it. I don’t know how that happened. I just know that I wanted to be closer to it. And when I entered into that Light, things just kind of burst open. The blackness was gone. And I was surrounded by Light, intense Light all around me. It felt like — if I had to describe it — like you were looking at a spider web or a network of lights. That’s really what I felt like I was embedded in. And I thought, “Wow, this is amazing.” And I quickly had the knowing that it was alive. Like I was watching it, but it was a vibrant, breathing, living entity.
As Deborah marveled at this web of living Light, she began to realize what she was actually looking at. My five senses definitely did not apply. I didn’t have a body, so I could sense and feel, but not the way we do when we’re in our human bodies. And then I became quickly aware that not only was the web that I was seeing and drawing closer to alive, but that there were souls — that the Lights were souls, that they were individual, that, as a whole, it was presenting itself to me as a living entity of vibrance and life and intelligence, but that each Light, or filament of Light, or orb that I was seeing, was a soul. And I thought, “I have been here before. I don’t know how, but this seems familiar.” And when that thought occurred, I was flooded with an intense love. I just can’t even describe it. Filled with it, surrounded by it, and aware that the intelligence and the Light was all-knowing and all-loving. And that not only was I part of it, but I was an important part of it. Now, this blew me away because I remember thinking, “I’m part of this? I mean, this magnificence that is being shown to me? I’m actually not only part of it, but an important part of it?”
In Part 2, Deborah says a Divine presence begins helping her understand what she is seeing — and then the experience turns toward moments from her own life. But then I started to be shown things where I believe I was not as loving as I could have been. And when they started, I thought, “Oh, boy. I’m not sure I want to look at these.” Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of a multipart series of Dr. Deborah King’s near-death experience. (Beyond with Heather Tesch)
