In today’s news, Qatar Red Crescent Society builds lifesaving modern kidney dialysis center in Yemen. Study conducted by international team of scientists finds melting sea ice could be changing Arctic clouds, global nonprofit provides learning opportunities for conflict-affected children in Ethiopia, Indonesia enhances basic infrastructure with massive bridge and clean water expansion, two children rescued after paddleboard swept away by currents in Spain, fastest-growing vegan company in US boosts sales by more than 560%, and research shows rewilded zoo elephant-people adapt well to natural habitats in South Africa. Fit and strong helps you live happy and long! Today I’d like to offer an exercise tip. An easy and fun way to track how active you are by using a pedometer, step counter, wearable device or fitness app. These can all count the steps you take throughout the day and motivate you to walk more. Some devices also show the calories you burn, and many apps are free. Make using your step counter a daily habit. Put it on or activate it first thing in the morning and keep it on until bedtime. For the first week, follow your usual routine without changing your activity level to find your starting point. Then, set a goal for the second week. Start by adding 300–500 steps a day, gradually working towards 2,000 extra steps. This is about 1.6 km (1 mile), or 20 minutes of walking. Your ideal health goal should be to achieve around 7,500 steps per day or more. Record your steps each day and enjoy your progressing health.
