Darting around the house with my dog-pals is always a lot of fun. Here is a safety tip to keep your dog companion from slipping at home. Make sure their nails are regularly trimmed and filed with a Dremel every four to six weeks. If they have longer hair or fur coat, trim the hairs between their toes every two weeks. Dry or cracked paw pads are uncomfortable and provide poor grip, so keep them in good condition by gently rubbing natural coconut oil or a salve containing safe ingredients onto them. Be sure not to apply too much as this can make their pads slippery. Secure carpets, carpet runners, and area rugs in your home to allow good traction. Place carpet runners on staircases or non-skid pads on each step. Additionally, place a non-skid pad on the ground on both ends of the staircase. You can also use yoga mats instead of carpeting which can easily be cleaned and rolled up and stored away. Taking these precautions is important because slipping can put your furry friend at risk for arthritic joint flare ups and muscle strains that can lead to more pain and discomfort.

The giggle traffic light just turned green, meaning it’s time for the joke of the day. This one’s called “Kindergarten Space Logic.”

Andrew, a kindergarten student, was learning about outer space, and during playtime, the teacher noticed that he was pretending to land a spaceship on the Sun.

“Andrew, do you remember that the sun is made of hot plasma?”

“That’s okay, ma’am, because I threw water on it first!”
