Today, I’d like to offer an animal-companion care tip. Hot weather can be tough on our furry friends, so it’s important to keep them safe and comfortable. Many cat- and dog-people grow thick winter coats that help them stay warm but can cause overheating in the summer. Regular brushing helps remove excess hair and keeps them cooler. You can trim longer hair on dog-folk, but never shave them, as their layered coats protect them from both heat and sunburn. Cat-folk also benefit from extra brushing during hot months. Always use only animal-people safe sunscreens and insect repellents if needed. During the hottest part of the day, usually between 11am and 2pm, make sure animal companions have access to shade or bring them indoors to prevent overheating. Most importantly, always provide plenty of fresh, drinkable water to help them stay hydrated and cool.
