To help your plants thrive, hand-pollinate blooms by gently tapping them or using a clean electric toothbrush to mimic insect vibrations. Keep the soil evenly moist, neither soggy nor dry, and protect your plants when daytime temperatures rise above 35 °C or fall below 13 °C at night. Choose varieties suited to your climate, and once flowers appear, switch from nitrogen-heavy fertilizer to one richer in phosphorus and potassium to encourage fruit development.
