In October 2025, California passed major legislation to improve animal-people welfare and crack down on puppy mills. For example, Assembly Bill 506 requires pet-folk sellers to disclose an animal-person’s origin and health history, while Assembly Bill 519 bans third-party brokers from selling pet-persons bred outside the state.
